Practice multiplication with ice cube trays!

Ice cube trays are great for multiplication! They're cheap and they are divided into sections. Perfect for making equal groups! I used colorful transparent bingo chips as counters.

Here's how we used them. To solve 5 x 4, we put 4 counters in each of the 5 sections.

Then, we put the counters into an array and discussed how many rows and columns. We also skip counted by 5s and 4s. The kids loved working with the ice cube trays and counters!
