Need to throw a baby shower for a fellow teacher at work?

I love celebrating important milestones in peoples' lives! I'm especially excited when new babies are on the way! I work with two fabulous interventionists. We work so well together. We're professional and get things done. But we also like to have fun and we make time to share what's happening in our lives.

Our K/1 Interventionist is expecting a little boy this spring, so we threw her a surprise travel theme shower. She had no idea! We told her we're having a meeting and there's a long agenda!

To decorate for the work shower, we used things from our offices. If you work in schools, I bet you could find treasures in any classroom! You don't have to go out and buy a lot of stuff, if you do a travel theme shower.

We used an old globe, one of our prize boxes, Oh the Places You'll Go wall art, old maps (we cut them to make a pennant banner to hang from the ceiling), a small chalkboard (and wrote The World Awaits You), and curtains for the table cloth! Yes, they're curtains! We just tossed them over a kidney-shaped reading table.

I did bring the tiered dessert stand from home, carafes, and the wine box to create height. For treats, we did milk and cookies. Who doesn't like milk and cookies? We also served lemonade. We filled the dessert stand with Pepperidge Farm cookies. NO BAKING REQUIRED! I love that! For favors, I took leftover map paper and wrapped Hershey bars.

As a gift, we put board books in a travel theme box for the baby's library. We're already thinking about early literacy!

Here's our travel theme work baby shower.

So, if you are looking for an easy Pinterest-worthy shower idea and you work in schools, do a travel theme shower!
