20 Ways to use Grid Paper in Math

I absolutely love this time of year. The fall weather is beautiful. It's pumpkin spice latte time at Starbucks! College football is in full swing. Hook 'em Horns! So, the theme in my groups right now is Fall into Learning!

By this time of year, our students have learned so much and we've shown them different strategies. One thing I continue to show students is how to use grid paper in math. It's such a helpful tool and it can be used in many ways.

Here are 20 ways I've learned to use grid paper. If you teach in Texas, you can use the same grid paper that students will use on the actual STAAR test. It's just another way to get them used to using the grid paper that is offered to them. Just download the paper from the TEA website here. (It's called Grades 3-5 Math Graph Paper.)
